Through the Institute, Workingfaster.com has agreed to develop and deliver continuing education in a variety of formats from e-learning to traditional workshops in locations across Ontario. "The Education Institute needs the services of highly skilled partners, who not only understand adult education but understand libraries as well," said Larry Moore, Executive Director of the Ontario Library Association. "Our experience with Rita Vine and Workingfaster.com over the years in workshops and at Super Conference has been unfailingly positive and we look forward to a strong and productive relationship." Since1995, Workingfaster.com has offered instructor-led training, custom research portals, and custom e-learning tools to help library staff break through the clutter of the Internet and access the information that matters. Serving libraries and library associations throughout North America, Workingfaster.com is a privately held company founded by Rita Vine, one of North America’s leading experts on internet research and teaching. In 2002 and 2003, over forty workshops developed by Workingfaster.com will be offered by OLA’s Education Institute. The first internet-based programs will be launched this winter. The Education Institute has been formed by the OLA Board of Directors to target learning experiences to librarians and library staff wherever they practice. The intent is to offer a year-round calendar of programs vital to a changing library landscape and to a workforce facing new challenges in the workplace. The Ontario Library Association creates programs, advocacy and promotion for its 4,000 members in college, school, university, public and special libraries across Ontario. The mission of the Ontario Library Association is to foster free public access to information and to promote Canada’s history and culture through the programs and services of the libraries of Ontario. The Association is Canada’s largest and oldest continually operating library association in Canada.
